Our Afterhours Program offers engaging activities designed to strengthen social skills and foster independence for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. With a variety of unique group options tailored to better serve clients' needs and interests, participants can enjoy themselves, build connections, and form new friendships in a supportive and structured environment.
Adventure & Exploration Groups – Designed for individuals who require minimal support, this group fosters creativity, independence, and teamwork. Participants will engage in activities that encourage problem-solving and self-expression while working collaboratively. These groups will be offered five days a week.
Leisure & Wellness Groups – Tailored for individuals who benefit from hands-on support, this group provides structured, guided activities with adaptive materials and visual aids. With a focus on fostering independence at each participant’s own pace, these sessions create a supportive and engaging environment. Initially offered two days a week, however there are plans to expand availability in future sessions.
Career Club – Career Club is a new program that will meet weekly on Tuesdays and is intended for those who already have the foundational and essential skills that will help them work towards securing employment. Through a unique combination of classroom-based lessons, group activities, peer discussions, and community-based volunteering or internships, participants in Career Club will increase their employment skills so that they can seek employment and/or graduate into Helping Hand’s Employment Services Program.
